  • Charles Cibula, DPM, FACFAS

    Dr. Cibula treats all podiatric conditions with particular interest in foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Cibula has specialty training in all foot and ankle surgery. This also includes newer techniques in total ankle replacement and minimally invasive surgical procedures., he also has interest in wound care.

    Dr. Cibula is a very active member for the state of Iowa Association of Podiatry Board as well as scientific committee member for the yearly Heartland podiatry conference.

    His mission statement is to treat all patients with utmost respect and to provide the best possible foot and ankle care.

    Dr. Cibula grew up on a small farm just outside of Vining, IA. He attended high school at Belle Plaine. He started with Cedar Valley Podiatry in 2010.

    Dr. Cibula currently lives in Denver, IA with his wife Hillary and her two children. His personal interests include cross-fit, hunting, golf.

    Dr Schmerbach received his Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Iowa in 2006. He went on to complete his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, Ohio. He completed his Podiatric Surgical Residency June of 2014 at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital In Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He started seeing patients at Cedar Valley Podiatry in August of 2014.

    Dr Schmerbach is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Iowa Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine & Wisconsin Podiatric Medical Society.

    He is from Dubuque Iowa. He and his wife have 3 children. His personal interests include baseball, football, golf and hunting.

  • Samuel Bernard, DPM

    Board Qualified with American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery

    Dr. Bernard is originally from Galena, IL. He attended Iowa State University obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then attended Des Moines University and completed a doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Bernard underwent three years of training in foot and ankle surgery at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. 

    Specially trained in all surgical techniques of the foot and ankle. 

    Dr. Bernard currently resides in Waterloo and enjoys spending time hunting, fishing, and hiking. He is eager to begin providing patient the highest level of care at Cedar Valley Podiatry Foot and Ankle Center.

    Dr. Bernard is an ABFAS Board Qualified foot and ankle surgeon who is affiliated with Unity Point Allen Hospital and MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. He is a member of the Iowa Podiatric Medical Society and the American Society of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
